Report a problem

In the app, open Settings → Help → Report a problem. The report sends the text you enter with limited device, app, screen, note-count, layout, and recent gesture measurements. Automatically gathered diagnostics exclude note text, images, drawings, place names, account details, and sync credentials. Do not type sensitive note content into the report unless you intend to send it. Reports become issues in the project's private GitHub repository.

Sync, linking and recovery

  • Link another device: Settings → Link devices. The code transfers your encryption key wrapped by a secret that never touches the service.
  • Recovery phrase: Settings → Private space. A replacement Apple device may restore your key through iCloud Keychain. A phrase saved beforehand is the only recovery method that does not depend on iCloud Keychain or another device. Ambient Notes cannot reset it for you because the service cannot read your notes.
  • Sync needs attention: tap the sync row in Settings. It explains what is waiting and offers the one action that helps. Nothing is lost while sync is paused. Changes wait on the device.

Remove your data

  • Delete the synced copy: Settings → Private space → Delete synced copy. The service erases the encrypted copy; notes on the device stay.
  • Delete your account: Settings → Apple account → Delete account on an iPhone or iPad. You review what will be removed, confirm with Apple, and the account and any synced copies it owns are erased. The web app cannot currently complete this Apple confirmation.
  • Delete the native app: removes every note on that device. Removing an installed web app may leave browser storage behind, so clear the site data for app.ambientnotes.app to remove that local copy. Export first (Settings → Private space → Export everything) if you want a copy.

Shared notes

  • Share a note: open a note’s actions and choose Share this note. Anyone you send the link to can open it, on the web too, and edit with you.
  • Joining without the app: the link opens in any browser. You type a name so the others know who is editing; that name is stored on a guest account so participants know who is editing. If you joined only through a browser and need that guest account removed, contact support.
  • Waiting for the key: notes are encrypted on the device, so a new person’s device has to be handed the note’s key by someone who already has it. That takes a few seconds with someone else online, and longer if nobody is.
  • Stopping: the owner can stop sharing or remove someone; anyone else can leave. Everyone keeps whatever they had already read. That is what sharing a note means, and this page will not pretend otherwise.

Contact

Write to support@ambientnotes.app. Problem reports sent from inside the app carry what the app was doing and reach the same people faster, so use that button when something went wrong in the app itself.

Privacy

What leaves your device, what the service can and cannot read, and how to remove everything is written down in the privacy policy. Questions about privacy or a data request can be sent to support@ambientnotes.app.
